Carver students and staff are temporarily at 988 Mason Headley Road, sharing space in the new facility for Rise STEM Academy for Girls.
The Beginnings
Fayette County Public Schools opened the George Washington Carver STEM Academy in August 2021. This magnet program, initially housed in the historic Johnson Elementary building on Sixth Street, welcomed boys in grades K-2. It would grow over time, adding a level every year through fifth grade. The STEM-focused curriculum (science, technology, engineering, and math) is taught through culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies.
